Reader's Clinic - Blank Column Headings in RLIST

Tim Darton of Xeryus Computing asked "How does one insert a totally blank column in an RLIST report to space columns out?". Saving a dict item without a column heading does not work, nor does removing the column heading with an editor - DICT.MFS simply puts the record key into field 3 as the column heading.

The only way in which this can be achieved is to insert a value mark into field three of the dict item and to space pad this to the width of the dictionary item. E.G. if a filler field of six spaces were required, insert six spaces followed by an @VM on line three of the dict item and make the dict item L#6. This has the desired effect, but because it makes the column heading effectively two lined, it inserts a blank line into the heading.

To get around this problem, use the dict window, and in the heading prompt type six spaces followed by an @VM then save the item. The @VM will be stripped and the spaces will be left, producing a blank column heading.
